Dow Jumps Over 500 Points; NY Empire State Manufacturing Index Falls In March

U.S. stocks traded higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 500 points on Monday.

Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded up 1.14% to 47,091.01 while the NASDAQ rose 1.38% to 22,411.52. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 1.24% to 6,714.50.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Financial shares climbed by 1.6% on Monday.

In trading on Monday, energy stocks rose by just 0.2%.

Top Headline

The NY Empire State Manufacturing Index declined to -0.2 in March from 7.1 in the previous month, down from market estimates of 3.2.

Equities Trading UP
           

  • Urgent.ly Inc (NASDAQ:ULY) shares shot up 164% to $5.36 after the company announced it entered into an agreement to be acquired by Agero for $5.50 in cash per share.Also, the company reported better-than-expected fourth-quarter financial results.
  • Shares of Meiwu Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ:WNW) got a boost, surging 104% to $3.68 after the company announced strategic AI insights initiative to support functional skincare product innovation.
  • Hcw Biologics Inc (NASDAQ:HCWB) shares were also up, gaining 90% to $0.98 after the company announced results for HCW9206 production platform for CAR-T cell therapies.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Paranovus Entertainment Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:PAVS) shares dropped 81% to $0.31.
  • Shares of Nasus Pharma Ltd (NYSE:NSRX) were down 40% to $2.99 after the company announced top line data from Phase 2 clinical study of NS002.
  • Signing Day Sports Inc (NYSE:SGN) was down, falling 28% to $0.51. Signing Day Sports and BlockchAIn issued an update on expected ticker symbol transition and common stock trading schedule.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded down 2.9% to $95.87 while gold traded down 0.7% at $5,027.50.

Silver traded down 1.7% to $79.945 on Monday, while copper rose 0.6% to $5.7935.

Euro zone

European shares were higher today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 rose 0.4%, while Spain's IBEX 35 Index rose 0.1%. London's FTSE 100 rose 0.7%, Germany's DAX gained 0.6% and France's CAC 40 rose 0.3% during the session.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed mixed on Monday, with Japan's Nikkei 225 falling 0.13%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gaining 1.45%, China's Shanghai Composite slipping 0.26% and India's BSE Sensex gaining 1.26%.
